Why Membership?
As followers of Jesus Christ we need to commit not just to Jesus Christ but also to a local body of believers. The church is a family. God expects you to be a member of a church family. A Christian without a church family is an orphan. Active membership in a local church is a key component in the growth of every follower of Jesus Christ.
What is Membership?
St. Paul’s Church is an independent, congregational church. That means St. Paul’s is governed by its members. Our members attend membership meetings. Our members elect the leaders of the church: Lead Pastor and the Board. Our members approve our annual budget. Our members approve any changes to our bylaws.
Because Membership is important at St. Paul’s we invite potential members to take our Membership Classes and sign our Membership Covenant before becoming an Active Member.
What are the Benefits of Membership?
There are three main benefits to being an Active Member at St. Paul’s. First, members receive pastoral priority. At St. Paul’s our members are our leaders. As such they receive pastoral priority. Second, members receive accountability. We can only hold people accountable to what they’ve already agreed to. By committing to our membership covenant, members invite others to hold them accountable. Third, members receive influence over the church. As leaders our members directly influence the direction of the church.
