Music & Art in Worship
"Praise the LORD with the harp;
make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre.
Sing to him a new song;
play skillfully, and shout for joy.
For the word of the LORD is right and true;
he is faithful in all he does."
(Psalm 33:2-4, TNIV)
God is the ultimate creator and we believe creativity is part of what it means to be made in his image.
That's why we use many art forms in our worship including music, dance, video, drama, painting, poetry, and more. While we use music every week, throughout the year you will experience different types of art and creativity. We also invite you to bring your creativity with you -- bring a sketch book or canvas and create art while you worship as worship.
Singing is central to our corporate worship gatherings. More than just music, songs of worship are prayers of thanks, awe, need, lament, and devotion that prepare our hearts to be changed by God. They focus our hearts on Him and give words to our response to Him.
Because God loves diversity and different people connect to God in different ways, we use a variety of musical styles to worship. These styles include ancient hymns, jazz, rock, acoustic, alt, and even an occasional choral operatic piece. While each of our services has a different "flavor" musically, you are bound to find an eclectic mix at all of them!
Currently, our different styles include:
9:00 AM - Traditions 11:15 AM - Jazz 4:00 PM - Rock 6:00 PM - Unplugged
